Mobile ALT Trails Map Install Guide   

The ALT trails map contains the (16) equestrian and hiking trails approved by the Auburn Lake Trails Board of Directors plus local trails in the Auburn State Recreation Area.  When used with Avenza PDF Map software on a gps-enabled mobile device, your current location displays as a blue dot on the map.  The Avenza PDF Maps software is free and uses the GPS chip in your mobile phone; Internet access is only required for the initial installation.

Installation details for iPhone and IOS Devices

 

Step 1 - Install Avenza PDF Maps software on your phone. The application can be downloaded for free from the Apple App store.

Step 2 - Once the installation completes, Open the Avenza PDF Maps application. 

 

Tip: You will need to accept the Avenza license agreement the first time you load the software.  Also, you can skip the Avenza registration page by clicking on "Register later" or closing the page (select the "X" in the top right corner) and returning to the Avenza PDF Maps application.

 

Tip: When prompted, allow Avenza PDF Maps to have access to the services it requires (location, camera, etc.)

Step 3 - Launch the latest ALT Trail Map and import the map into Avenza.

To import, once the map is displayed, tap the map and then select "Open In" from the ribbon that pops up from the bottom of the screen.   Scroll through the application list and select the Avenza PDF Maps program.  When the import process has completed, touch the map to load it.  Zoom in until the map is easy to read. Your current location will be displayed as a blue dot on the map.

 

Tip: Tap the Location icon  (bottom left) to center the map on your current location.

Step 3 - Launch the latest ALT Trail Map and import the map into the PDF Maps program.

Depending on the version of your mobile phone software, you may be automatically presented with the option to 'Open with PDF Maps' or you may need manually initiate the import.  To manually import, once the map is displayed, tap Options (the 3 vertical dots in the top right corner of your screen), select 'Open with' and then select the Avenza PDF Maps program.

 

When the import process has completed, touch the map to load it.  Zoom in until the map is easy to read.  Your current location will be displayed as a blue dot on the map.

 

Tip: Tap the GPS icon  (top left) to center the map on your current location.
